Licensed and continuously active since 1962, I enjoy chasing DX or ragchewing and am currently active on 80 through 2 meters. I am also E51DLD and try to operate from Raratonga in the South Cook Islands when possible.
Workwise I have a diverse background having commissioned mobile aircraft control "towers", maintained a one-man electronics shop for a fleet of tuna clippers and freighters, taught electronics, managed drug stores, built surface combatants for the Navy, managed cogeneration plants, served as a project manager commissioning power plants and worked in support capacities providing ground services for various cruise lines.
I am a Life Member and multi-term past President of the United Radio Amateur Club and was the trustee for their K6AA for many years. I joined URAC in 1970 when I relocated to Southern California after I was discharged from the Army where I served as an electronics instructor at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
I am the President, co-founder and a Lifetime Associate of the Battleship Iowa Amateur Radio Association (BIARA), whose mission is to support the success of the Museum Battleship Iowa, the Pacific Battleship Center and the National Museum of the Surface Navy in San Pedro, California. All associates are required to be badged volunteers of the Pacific Battleship Center and many wear numerous hats. Listen for our NI6BB operations from the message center on the main deck mid ships. We use the discone to operate 20 through 10 meters and the cage for 80 through 30. We also utilize the 14' trussed monopole atop the Aviation Service Station on the aft deck for a second 10 to 30 MHz antenna. Depending on the operator's choice we work SSB, CW and digital. The photo above shows our current QSL card. Please visit our https://biara.org for much more information about radio on the IOWA including info on NEPM and NE6PM. We also have a NI6BB 2-meter repeater aboard ship awaiting final TASMA coordination.

First licensed in 1956, Amateur Radio has been the foundation of my careers in the sound reinforcement industry as well as bringing high quality, articulate audio to Amateur Radio. Entering this great hobby during the best sun spot cycle helped me to focus on designing and building one of the first VHF SSB KW stations. Throughout the years, I have enjoyed designing many antennas, from the 128 element two meter ''J' Beam array in 1960 to the latest - phased arrays on 40 and 75 meters. I enjoy all of the bands from 160 meters through two meters working my many friends and especially newcomers to this great hobby.

Bill Kreutinger holds a General class ham radio license and currently serves as the technical director and chief radio officer of Tri-Cities RACES, serving the cities of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point. He served in the NY Army National Guard and as an auxiliary police officer in Niagara County, NY before moving to California in 2014.
That, and his several years working in the electronics industry and life-long love of computers and technology made AREDN a keen area of interest when he first learned about it in 2018.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bill, like many of us, picked up a couple “pandemic hobbies”- gardening and AREDN.
Since then, Bill has advised and helped train EmCom groups from the Adirondacks to the West Coast on AREDN. While Bill’s garden is now dead and generally untended, his regional AREDN network is stronger than ever, providing substantial coverage to 3 cities, with equipment located at an EOC, two Community Centers and other strategic locations, and supporting digital services including live IP camera feeds, an NTP server, Google Docs-like collaborative file editing with Nextcloud, TeamTalk5 for virtual meetings and screen sharing, maps, geolocation and routing, VOIP phones, TAK/WinTAK and Winlink.

Bill spoke at the recent WARA event and brought 4 portable VoIP phone kits, the TCR Bullet Camera kit and a battery box, and a Mikrotik HAP AC3.
For K6PIN, Bill will bring the same equipment, but also bring the Raspberry Pi 4 and Slate node that hosts the digital services we demonstrated at the WARA meeting.
Bill might also bring along the Pelican case shown in the link below, and a ruggedized mini-PC with map and routing services set up.

The AREDN Development Team was formed February of 2015 by former members of the BBHNDev team interested in making mesh software work for the needs of Amateur Radio Operators and emergency networks. The AREDN® work is based on the experiences and skills gained working on the BBHNDev team.
Our mission is to provide the Amateur Radio Community with a quality solution for supporting the needs of high speed data in the Amateur Radio and Emergency Communications field.
